“I know how to count
I will count”, he volunteered.
“One, two, three, four, five…”
“Stop,
what are you counting?”
“I am counting,
How many times
My father bought sweets for me?”
“Did
you finish counting?”
“No, not yet I am still counting.
One, two, three, four, five.”
“Oh
yes, five, … then
only five times?.”
“Only that much in this week, child replied.”
Does it seem absurd to you? Well, I am not speaking
anything of any existential philosophers. We, simple human beings are so much
fond of doing good things. But is that all? Then, we start counting the good
things done by me, my family, my friend, my country and we keep a history of
it. ... But never succeeding to count
what others have done.
It is
interesting to note that many people are particular in counting things that we have
done in the presence of others. Is that nice? If something is done for the sake
of adding up numbers, it is a waste of time for everyone. Do good but not for
adding up numbers. Do good for itself. I believe that’s the reason Mother
Theresa is considered as the best giver. However, the fact that she did not
keep history of it she is misinterpreted today.
Do not remember your own good acts.
Counting is a waste of time.
